My first J-Drama, Hana Yori Dango Boys Before Flowers, was adapted from a manga.  I promptly fall for the quiet introvert of the group – Hanazawa Rui, played by Oguri Shun. This drama has 2 seasons worth of material and a movie in 2008, which broke all blockbuster records in Japan (until Rookies came out this year).  We were so enraptured with the story that we finished 2 seasons in two weekends.  NOT two weeks, two weekends.

Makino Tsukoshi, a really poor student, finds herself in a school filled with only the rich and the privileged.  By saving a friend, she soon makes enemies with the dreaded F4.  However, not only are the four protagonists turned over by her never failing determination, the group’s leader Domyoji Tsukasa oddly falls for her too.  Meanwhile, she only has eyes for Rui.

Season 2

Domyoji becomes a changed person after leaving for NY.  The remaining members of F4 looks after Makino. When Domyoji returns to Japan, his mother announces his engagement and wedding to an heiress.  Rui finally develops feelings for Makino.  Will it happen?
