Anime 2012 Q1 & Q2

New anime

Another

AnotherAnother (アナザー Anazā) is a mystery horror novel written by Yukito Ayatsuji, published in October 29, 2009. A manga adaptation by Hiro Kiyohara was serialized from May 2010 to January 2012. The anime series came soon after airing January 10 to March 27, 2012 with a total of 12 episodes. The live-action film will be released August 4, 2012.

Opening & Ending Themes:

1. “Kyōmu Densen” (凶夢伝染 Nightmare Contagion) by Ali Project
2. “Anamnesis” by Annabel

Sakakibara Koiichi is a middle schooler transferring back to his mother’s old school. Things are not what it seems in the odd Class 3-3. The unfortunately named Misaki Mei, Sakakibara’s classmate, is ignored by everyone and treated as if she doesn’t exist! Soon enough, his classmates began to drop like flies, facing gruesome, senseless deaths.

In 1972, a student named Misaki died partway during the school year of Class 3-3. Devastated by the loss, the students and teachers of the class agree to carry on as if Misaki was still alive. Eerily, she was even present in the graduation photo. The tradition repeats itself every year since: whereby a dead appears as one of the students of Class 3-3 (but no one know that person is dead), but a living person is treated as non-existent (to account for the “extra”). If this is not done, students and teachers of that class dies off one by one.

What a chilling yet riveting who-done-it mystery series! It was quite eerie throughout the series. Realizing who was “dead” at the end was such a kicker! The opening theme song is just a tad wacky and out of sync enough to match this series.

Disovering Kyoto

Day 7: April 4, 2012 Wednesday

Melodrama aside, I was actually sad leaving Kyoto…and exhausted. As we neared Tokyo, we caught sight of Mt. Fuji – separated by a glass on a moving bullet train!

Mt. Fuji

Mt. Fuji – through the looking glass

The train pulled into Tokyo Station at 5pm. Back on familiar ground. We were back on familiar ground. How quickly the surroundings become comforting. We took the Keiyo line, switched to the Hibiya line and reached our next stop, Naka-okachimachi station. Taking the subway was no longer a scramble of coins and map. We were well-prepared.

The story is an action-packed, supernatural, comedic series starring protagonist Tatsumi Oga, the “strongest juvenile delinquent” in a school filled with delinquent.

During a trouncing of thugs by Oga at the riverbank, he finds a man (a transporter between worlds) floating down a river and pulls him to shore. The man promptly splits in half and a baby boy emerges. The baby is the son of the Great Demon King who the transporter, Alain Delon, has chosen based on his prowess as an “evil” human. Later, Baby Beel chooses Tatsumi as his guardian and care giver when the heir to hell’s maid, Hildegarde, comes to retrieve him. It then becomes Tatsumi’s quest to find a replacement caregiver for baby Beel. But first, he has to find someone from school more evil and stronger than him.

Watched the premier episode in Japan with no clue what it was, but found it extremely interesting and adorable. Didn’t realize that these new series are aired at the weirdest hours, most likely for insomniacs. Definitely will continue with the series.

He is rescued by a strange girl who believes she is an alien living under a bridge. She refuses his money to repay his debt, but instead, asks to be his lover. Unable to reject this request, Kou/Ric (his new name short for Recruit) begins his new life under a bridge and meets weird individuals who later are known as “denpasan” – for people living under the bridge.

The humor is dry, but the message hits home. The characters are weirdly interesting and the anime is very much priceless.

Catchup

Time to play catchup with our TV programs.

Didn’t watch the premier of House and Fringe until last night.  Crazy season!

Heroes is just getting irritating now. But I can’t seem to tear my eyes away from the imbeciles trying to kid themselves into believing that they are really that awesome and smart.

Still missing an episode of Glee from 2 weeks before.

TV dramas down. Now for the animes. Boy oh boy… am I lagging. Just watched last week’s Bleach today.  There’s a new episode tonight.

No wonder I’m four-eyed and in need of sleep. Not because I’m doing something important, but because I can’t get over my addiction and affair with the idiot box.

Hubs seem to think that we don’t have enough storage space for all the megabytes the cartoons are taking up. That’s why we are “working” overtime with the viewing. If only there are more night time hours than day times hours in one day, then our problem will be easily remedied.

We were supposed to go away this weekend. But it will be raining in the tri-state area. I guess we’re either warming the couch or hitting the museums.

Things are also slowly falling into place with travel arrangements for the wedding dinner in KL for December. The three of us finally messed the travel agent up so badly that she got us what we wanted. She couldn’t tell one sister from the other – according to her, we ALL sound alike.  She even mixed up the hubbies and the emails. Last night, I received cheh’s travel itinerary. I had to forward it to her. My younger sister got my itinerary two days ago. I got my new itinerary sent to the correct address today.

So after the circus, my younger sister and I realize that we are traveling on the same flight. At the end of the day, I called the travel agent up to see if it is possible that the four of us sat close to each other.

That would be tomorrow’s mayhem when I tell the agent I want aisle seats while my sister wants the window.  The seating is three rows of three seats in the 777 aircraft.  Good luck finding us our seats!

Towards a goal

WEEK 4

Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009

Headed to work bright and early to set up my computer today.

Then we meet my parents at Garden State mall, Paramus and went for kaiten sushi (carousel sushi) for lunch in Bergenfield. Since mommy doesn’t eat sushi, she ordered grilled salmon which was shared with the entire family.  She ate quite a huge chunk of fish, unlike her usual intake of 2 tbsp of rice and meat.

Mommy then made Hainanese chicken rice for dinner.  Jessie hung around the kitchen the entire time, hopping for something to drop on the floor.  No such luck.  But I did pull a small slice out for her dinner.

She proclaimed that the rice was a “failure.” We thought we struck gold.  Contrary to what she said, she took an extra helping of chicken rice.  She must really be hungry today. Either that, or I must not be feeding her for the pass month.
